Our themes are made with love ♥

At Matter Solutions we’ve been building WordPress Themes for years. Many, many, many years.

To start with we used to buy themes from the same old places and hack about with them to make them look the way our clients wanted, but we soon discovered some problems.

1. They were slow. When we did SEO the rankings didn’t go up as well as they should, for two reasons, when Google crawled the websites indexation was hampered by forcing the Crawler (robot) to load more stuff than necessary; AND, the most important thing was that users felt the websites were slow. The additional script to make it possible to add three different sliders did way more harm than good when it came to actually using the website as a website, rather than as a snazzy theme to buy.
2. Broken Websites. The client’s wanted to rearrange layouts. Doing that broke things. In the end when a client wanted to rearrange some content the answer often had to be NO. We could add or remove Rows but not Blocks within Rows. We ended being a sort of a theme-jockey. An outfit who could mess about with bought-themes but not really deliver quite what the client wanted.

A Better Option

Lots of web designers and their clients are happy with this. 70%* of clients get websites like this all the time in Brisbane, in Australia and around the world but its out of our frustration that an idea was conceived.

The idea became an open source framework called Matter Kit. Web designers anywhere in the world could use it and we got some feedback. It was way too technical and way hard to get started. We tried to help some people get to grips with it but after using bought themes we found that our technical master-piece was just too much to ask of web designers.
